analogies
Analogies are comparisons between two things that normally aren't considered to be alike. You need to figure out the relationship between the first two words in order to fill in the blank in the next pair. Below are examples of some analogies:
big: small :: angry: happy (relationship = opposites or antonyms)
teacher: school :: doctor: hospital (relationship = you find the person in that location)
run : ran :: swim: swam (relationship = present tense to past tense)
In this activity, you will need to:

CREATING YOUR ENTRY IN PIC COLLAGE (See Mrs. Newell's example on the Visual Vocabulary Home Page)
You will create your own entry for the Visual Vocabulary Weebly using the Pic Collage app. While the layout is up to you, your Pic Collage creation MUST include the following:
The words may be from the Word Wall, but they may also be words you find on your own as you read. If you wish to do a Word Wall Word that someone else has already done, that's fine! Just make sure your collage is DIFFERENT from the other one on the site. Multiple examples will give people a deeper understanding of the word.

1. This Weebly is for educational purposes ONLY. Anything you add to the page should be to help others learn and understand new vocabulary words in a school appropriate way. You should follow the rules I outline with you in class if you want to post to the website.
2. The only posts you may edit are YOUR OWN. You may not delete or alter anyone else's posts in any way.
3. The blog is mainly for other people outside our class who may visit our site. If you choose to post a comment, make sure it is school appropriate, kind, and well thought out. You should include your name on any blog post you submit.
4. Anyone who does not follow these rules will be removed as an editor of the website and will not be allowed to participate any longer.

- A SENTENCE using the word CORRECTLY (may be your own or may be from the book you found the word in)

Vocabulary Sort
Use any of the words currently displayed on our word wall. Take the words and fit them into three different categories. The categories should show that you were thinking deeply about the meaning of the words or parts of words (prefix, suffix, syllables, letter sounds and blends). You may use the same word in more than one category. Make sure your explanation is detailed and shows how each of the words fits into your category!
EXAMPLE:
Category: The Start of a New School Year
Words: Acclimate, Peruse, Capable, Qualm
Explanation: When you start school you have to acclimate to the surroundings by perusing the room. You may feel capable about certain things, but also have qualms about others.
